Partnership Helps Record Breaking Number of Kentuckians Become Homeowners
While the housing market began to slow across the country in 2006, Kentucky Housing’s network of 850 lenders helped provide $515,640,233 million in affordable mortgage loans to 5,224 Kentucky households, a new record for the 35-year-old state housing finance agency. Kentucky Housing recognized the top lending partners at the Second Annual Lender Recognition Luncheon today.
Families who receive a loan from Kentucky Housing work with its partner banks and mortgage companies located in communities statewide. Since its creation in 1972, almost 73,000 Kentucky families have become homeowners by obtaining a Kentucky Housing Corporation home loan.
Brenda Walker, senior director of Kentucky Housing’s Homeownership Department said, “All of Kentucky Housing’s lending partners are critical to the fulfillment of our mission of providing safe, decent, affordable housing opportunities. However, our top producers have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing affordable mortgage options using our loan products and for putting families into homes.”
“We are extremely grateful to our extensive list of lending partners who help Kentuckians across the state fulfill their dream of becoming homeowners,” said Ben A. Cook, Kentucky Housing Corporation’s chief executive officer.
“We appreciate the efforts and dedication of all our lenders,” he said. “These partnerships are key to Kentucky Housing’s and new homeowners’ success. Congratulations to all of our 2006 top loan producers.”
Kentucky Housing Corporation offers below-market-rate home loans, including 30-year fixed conventional, FHA, VA and RHS loans. Several down payment assistance programs are available to help families afford closing costs and down payments. Free homeownership education and financial counseling are available.
