Affordable Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee and State Housing Policy Advisory Committee to Meet

The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 1:30 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Kentucky Housing Corporation, 1231 Louisville Road, Frankfort.

The Affordable Housing Trust Fund was established by the 1992 Kentucky General Assembly to address the critical housing needs of very low-income Kentuckians, including the mentally and physically disabled and those on the verge of homelessness.  The fund supports projects that assist persons at or below 60 percent of the area median income, with a preference to help persons at or below 30 percent of the area median income.  Kentucky Housing Corporation created an advisory committee for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund in 1992.  Committee members represent diverse housing organizations with varying terms and are appointed by the chairman of the Kentucky Housing Corporation Board of Directors.  The members consult and advise officers and directors of Kentucky Housing Corporation concerning matters relating to the trust fund.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Housing Policy Advisory Committee will hold a regularly scheduled meeting at 1:30 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Kentucky Housing Corporation, 1231 Louisville Road, Frankfort.

The Housing Policy Advisory Committee was created by the 1996 General Assembly under the Affordable Housing Act.  The committee, consisting of 29 members representing the public and private sectors, has the responsibility of addressing and assessing issues that have a direct impact on housing in the Commonwealth.  The committee advises the officers and directors of Kentucky Housing Corporation on state housing policy matters.  The Corporation annually reports the findings and recommendations of the Housing Policy Advisory Committee to the governor and the interim Joint Committee on Local Government of the Legislative Research Commission.

The press and public are invited to attend these 15 meetings.  Individuals requiring special accommodations to attend these meetings should contact Karla Hale 24 hours in advance by calling (502) 564-7630 or toll-free in Kentucky at (800) 633-8896, extension 341; or TTY 711; or e-mail khale@kyhousing.org.
