The 34th Annual Housing Management Conference (HMC) was held at the Galt House Hotel & Suites, May 19-21, 2009 and was sponsored by the Southeastern Affordable Housing Management Assoication (SAHMA) and Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC).  The theme was “Housing Safari:  Exploring the Housing Jungle” and brought a total of 682 industry personnel.  The speakers provided useful information to help you deal with everyday monkey business and keep yourself out of the lion’s den.

Your safari survival guide includes crucial skills such as communication through the conflict, fair housing, Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) inspections, Tenant Rental Assistance Certification System (TRACS), and many others.  Kentucky Housing Corporation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will each provide overview sessions.  There were tracks for maintenance personnel, service coordinators, elderly properties, owners and agents, Tax Credits, and family properties.

Parkinson’s Support Center of Kentuckiana was the 2009 HMC charity.  The fundraising efforts include the famous silent action, a cookbook, and other fun activities.

During the closing session, the 2009 award recipients were announced.  The following is a list of the nominations and award winners that were recognized at the 2009 conference.  Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your continued commitment to the housing communities you represent!
